Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP)

The Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) is a voluntary program designed to help landowners restore environmentally sensitive lands.

By converting cropland or marginal pastureland to native vegetation, participants can improve wildlife habitats, enhance water quality, and reduce soil erosion.

Benefits of CREP:

  • Establish vegetative buffers to filter runoff and protect water resources.
  • Restore habitat for fish and wildlife, including endangered species.
  • Reduce sedimentation and nutrient pollution in nearby streams and rivers.
  • Receive financial incentives and annual rental payments for enrolled land.

How to Participate:

  1. Contact the district to discuss the eligibility of your land.
  2. Develop a conservation plan tailored to your property’s needs and goals.
  3. Receive funding and ongoing support to implement restoration practices.

This program offers a win-win solution for farmers and the environment by promoting sustainable land use practices while providing financial assistance.

Contact the Pomeroy Conservation District for more information about enrolling in CREP.
