​The Sustainable Farms & Fields (SFF) program is a grant initiative established by the Washington State Legislature in 2020 to support farmers and ranchers in implementing climate-smart practices that increase carbon sequestration and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The program offers financial assistance and technical support to encourage the adoption of sustainable agricultural methods. ​

Key Features of the SFF Program:

• Financial Assistance: Provides cost-sharing opportunities for projects such as planting cover crops, implementing no-till practices, managing manure storage, composting, and purchasing precision agriculture equipment.​
• Technical Support: Offers on-farm consultations and the development of climate-smart farm plans to tailor sustainable practices to individual operations.​
• Equipment Sharing: Facilitates the purchase of shared-use equipment, like no-till drills, made available through local entities such as conservation districts or farm cooperatives​.
• Demonstration Projects: Supports projects that showcase innovative practices not commonly used in the area, aiming to educate and encourage broader adoption within the agricultural community.​
